Hyper Reality

The celebrity is a concept of the hyper real, a notion that due to the amount of press coverage somebody receives this will inevitably make them some sort of higher being, making them a greater human for all there struggles to be on the front of  ‘ok’ or perhaps even more glossy stock options. Admittedly these people are real at some level, but the cultural perception of the celebrity creates a character that is extended beyond reality. Yet we are still lead to believe that the majority of these stories and issues that happen famous people are real and we should be interested because thy are real.  Celebrity means so little today, through programming such as Big Brother and The only way is Essex, which allows for a whole new level of the hyper reality, people being ‘real’ in a ‘real’ situation fabricated by a production team to communicate ‘reality’ all in front of cameras to be broadcast around the world. Consequently this media exposure makes people interested in their lives and the ‘real’ issues they face, which once again are indoctrinated and completely ‘real’.  The cross over between television and celebrity reality with actual reality is no existent in the way that they are interlocked completely; they are the one in the same. Our perspective on the world is in most ways depicted by what we see, read and here therefore when reading, seeing or hearing stories about celebrities lives and such we are buying into the idea of the hyper real as it is beyond real it is a simulation of what we have created to be real.
